Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 July 2026
1. Who we are
vPress is a web application that compresses video files in your browser. This Privacy Policy describes how personal data is handled when you use the Service.
2. Core principle: processing on your device
Video files you select are processed locally in your browser, using your device’s computing resources. vPress does not operate a remote encoding pipeline for your media. Your videos are not uploaded to vPress servers for compression, storage, analysis, or sharing.
Output files remain in your browser session until you download them or leave the page.
3. Data we do not collect
In the ordinary operation of the application, we do not collect:
- Your video or audio content, or compressed outputs
- File names or compression history on our infrastructure
- User accounts, profiles, or login credentials
- Product analytics, advertising identifiers, or third-party marketing trackers within the tool interface
4. Technical data generated by hosting
To deliver the website and static assets (pages, scripts, fonts, and compression engine files such as WebAssembly modules), requests are made to the hosting and edge infrastructure we use (for example Vercel). FFmpeg engine assets are self-hosted on the same origin as the app—not loaded from a third-party CDN at encode time.
Those providers may process standard technical logs—such as IP address, browser type, timestamps, and requested URLs—solely to operate and secure the website. That logging is independent of your video content, which is not sent to us for encoding.
5. Cookies and local storage
vPress does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The Service may use browser memory required for local encoding. We do not require you to create an account or accept a marketing cookie banner to use the tool.
6. Legal bases (EEA / UK, where applicable)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, technical transmission data processed by hosting infrastructure is typically necessary for our legitimate interest in providing a secure, available website. Media processing occurs under your control on your device.
7. International users
Hosting infrastructure may be located in the European Union, the United States, or other regions depending on the edge network. This does not change the fact that your video files are not uploaded to us for compression.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16. Do not use vPress if you are not permitted to do so under applicable law.
9. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product or legal changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where permitted by law.
10. Contact
For privacy inquiries regarding vPress, contact the site operator through the channels published with the production domain (for example project repository or domain contact details, if provided).
